AXS Map: a new way to find and talk about wheelchair friendly and accessible places.

AXS Map (pronounced access map) is a new and innovative way to find and talk about wheelchair friendly and accessible places. AXS Map is the beginning of a social movement promoting accessibility and social inclusion for people with disabilities.

AXS Map uses new media technology to engage, empower, and connect the disability community. Through the AXS Map app and website, users are invited to search for businesses that have accessible features such as accessible entrances or accessible washrooms. Users are also invited to share their reviews on the accessibility of a business or public place from a mobility 1 to 5 star rating. AXS Map will offer all people—including people with disabilities, seniors, and their supporters—freedom and spontaneity to make decisions about where they eat, shop, work and play. Ultimately, AXS Map links the knowledge of individuals to organically grow a collaborative intelligence on local accessibility.

AXS Map recently was granted the prestigious Google Earth Outreach Developer Award for its creative approach.

While other organizations advocate for those with disabilities, AXS Map empowers members of the disability community to speak for themselves.

AXS Map will dramatically improve the quality of life for those living with disabilities today. To this group, AXS Map offers inclusion into all aspects of mainstream culture and fosters well-being and quality of life has all people with disabilities deserve!
